Is the Hot Tub the New Kitchen Table?

Most of us have fond memories of gathering around the dining room or kitchen table with friends and family. Sometimes, the conversation was loud and full of laughter. Other times, it was quiet and respectful. Regardless, coming together at the table provided a chance for the family to catch up with one another and enjoy each other’s’ company.

As times change, so do our preferences, especially when it comes to where we gather and socialize with family and friends. One of these new changes is a concrete hot tub being the gathering spot or the new kitchen table if you will. Hot tubs offer a huge variety of functions and possibilities when it comes to socializing.

Why A Hot Tub?

When you think about it, it makes sense for a hot tub to be a gathering place to catch up with friends and family. The overall hot tub setting provides a place for bathers to relax and decompress just as you would in the kitchen or living room. The key difference is a hot tub is physically relaxing your muscles. A hot tub also doesn’t need to be seasonal; bathers can enjoy the warm waters in the dead of winter or on a warm summer evening.

The Gathering Place

Just like in the kitchen or living room, it’s easy to share snacks and drinks in a hot tub. All you need to do is sub out your glassware for plastic cups to avoid breaking anything. There’s also an entire sub-industry dedicated to products that make eating and drinking in a hot tub easier. Some products include floating drink holders and tables. You can also add deck chairs around the hot tub so those who get too hot can get out of the hot tub but still feel like they’re part of the conversation.

Hot Tub Accessories

As we just mentioned, a whole new sub-industry has cropped up around hot tub accessories. Apart from the floating drink holders and tables, you can also find floating hot tub games, water-resistant music systems that connect to Bluetooth devices and LED lights. You can also find furniture made specifically to be put around the hot tub so people can grab food as they want or put their phones down out of the water’s way.

The New Social Venue

When you have a hot tub, few people will turn you down when you call them up with an invitation to soak in the warm water. A hot tub is a great place to reconnect with family and friends you haven’t seen in a while, all while relaxing your mind and your body. Just like the kitchen table, a hot tub is a great place to gather, socialize, and catch up.
