Fall is a Good Time to Have a Swimming Pool Installed[/caption]
The summer months are by far the busiest time for swimming pool contractors but can you get a better deal by waiting until the end of summer when there is less of a demand for new pool installations and more competition between pool builders?
The fall is definitely a good time to have a swimming pool installed for a number of reasons. Here are three compelling incentives for having a swimming pool installed in the fall, as opposed to waiting for the spring or summer.
Lower Prices
Spring is the time when many homeowners start to plan home renovation projects. For some, these plans will include a swimming pool. Pool contractors are at their busiest in the spring and summer.
Fall and winter, however, are the low points for pool installers. They usually have to reduce their workforce because projects are scarce and the competition is fierce.
Pricing is almost always lower at this time of year because pool installers want to win contracts rather than suffer months of inactivity. Often, you can get great deals on pool equipment, too, as suppliers clear out their inventories.
Beat Cost Increases
With each New Year the annual ‘cost of goods’ increase is passed on from suppliers to pool installers. This means that swimming pool prices will also increase.
Better Workmanship
With a more relaxed schedule, contractors may be more particular about their work, knowing they don’t have to rush to get things done so they can move on to the next job.
Landscaping
The installation of a pool will always cause damage to a yard. Regrowth of grass and other vegetation takes time. In many areas, September and October are great times for new plantings.
The Disadvantages
Pool contractors may not be as desperate for business as you might imagine so the price of an inground pool may not go down as much as expected. Some contractors may simply close up shop over the winter. Still others may refuse to lower their prices on principle. Also, you never know when inflation will cause the cost of building materials to increase in price.
Winter installations are possible but, if you live in an area that experiences cold winters, you’ll need to talk to prospective contractors to ensure that the frozen ground won’t make excavation difficult.
Lastly, money saved makes a long wait before they can use their pool bearable for some people. But, if the thought of having to wait four to seven months before you can use your new pool after its completion is too much to bear, despite the savings, you might be better off choosing a spring installation. You can usually find some excellent deals on springtime inground pool installations during February and March.
